On behalf of all the team at Afnic, we wish you the very best for 2013!
Sending you our best wishes for the coming year also provides us with an opportunity to review the highlights of the past year, as in 2012 with:
-
our reappointment as the registry for the .fr TLD, to further the action initiated 15 years ago in favor of more than 2.5 million domain names and more generally the Internet France;
-
the opening of IDN domain names to all on 3 July 2012, with over 32,000 registrations to date;
-
the extension of the opening hours for the Afnic customer service, which is now available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week;
-
the second edition of the Registrar Day last October, in Lyon and Paris.
Because Afnic was created to contribute to the development of the Internet in France, we hope to do even better in 2013, in particular with:
-
the launch of new services, such as multi-year registration, and domain names with 1 and 2 characters;
-
support for 17 backers of French projects for new TLDs, who have chosen to entrust Afnic with their projects, whether they are community-based, geographic or economic in nature.
